Are Guling bay and its reef wave, South Lombok
Location · Are Guling, South Lombok

From the island to the place:
where Aregulin is.

Aregulin Estates sits in Are Guling bay, on the south coast of Lombok, west of Kuta. To understand what that means it helps to go from large to small: the island, the south with Kuta and Mandalika, and finally the bay.

01 · The island

Lombok, east of Bali,
with a character of its own.

Lombok belongs to the province of West Nusa Tenggara and lies just east of Bali, across a strait. It shares latitude and climate with its neighbour, but not its pace: Sasak culture, Mount Rinjani and a coastline divided into very different areas give it an identity of its own.

Changing area in Lombok changes both the experience and the logistics. The west, with Mataram and Senggigi, is the urban part and the oldest tourist coast. The north-west faces the Gili islands. The north and the interior are Rinjani, rice fields and villages. The south is something else: a string of bays open to the Indian Ocean with Kuta at its core.

None of this is next to the project. The Gili islands or Rinjani are trips to be planned; Kuta and the neighbouring bays are the everyday surroundings. It is useful to have that distinction clear from the start, whether you are spending seasons here or assessing a purchase.

Sasak culture is not a backdrop: inhabited villages, hand-loom weaving, markets and a cuisine with identity coexist with the island that welcomes visitors. We tell it in more detail on the history page; here it is enough to know it is part of everyday life in the south.

02 · The south

Kuta Lombok and Mandalika,
the everyday surroundings.

Kuta Lombok, not to be confused with Kuta in Bali, is the heart of the south: restaurants, cafés, social life and the base from which the coast is explored. Next to it, Mandalika is the tourism area developed by ITDC, with the international circuit as its events hub.

Kuta Lombok

Restaurants, cafés
and coastal-village life.

Kuta is where you have dinner, take your morning coffee and meet people. A coastal village that has grown with surfing and tourism without losing its scale: short streets, local and international cooking, shops and surf schools.

For those spending seasons at Are Guling, Kuta is where you go down to for social life and the day's shopping; the bay is for the sea and for rest.

Mandalika

The tourism area
and the circuit.

Mandalika is a specific tourism area in Central Lombok, developed by the state-owned ITDC next to Kuta, with hotels, a seafront promenade and the international motor-racing circuit. It is a defined zone: part of the southern surroundings, but neither all of Lombok nor the bay of Are Guling.

The circuit hosts international events, with the Indonesian Grand Prix as the main date, and has been adding offerings for spectators, such as a camping ground at the 2026 edition. The calendar changes every season; the official source is ITDC itself.

03 · Are Guling and the project

The bay,
west of Kuta.

Are Guling, also spelled Areguling or Air Guling, is a bay on the south coast in the village of Tumpak, Pujut district, Central Lombok. Aregulin Estates takes its name from it and sits in its surroundings: eleven villas facing the sea on the hillside overlooking the bay.

To the west lie Selong Belanak and Mawun, sandy beaches; to the east, Kuta, Mandalika and Gerupuk bay. It is the geography that shapes the day: sea and rest at Are Guling, social life in Kuta, surfing in whichever bay the forecast favours.

The villas are laid out in three typologies on the hillside, with different positions and views depending on the plot; each one's specific relationship to the beach and access is detailed in the masterplan and confirmed on the visit.

Getting there

Getting to Lombok,
continuing on to Are Guling.

The usual entry point is Lombok International Airport, in the south of the island itself; from there the last stretch to Are Guling is by road. Arriving by sea is possible, but lands at other points on the island and likewise ends with an overland transfer.

By air

Lombok International Airport (LOP)

It is in Tanak Awu, Pujut district, near Praya: the same southern part of the island as Kuta and Are Guling. It is the closest airport to the project and the natural gateway.

  • Licensed taxis and car hire at the airport itself
  • Ride-hailing apps (Bluebird, Grab, GoCar) added as an overland option
  • The transfer to Are Guling is arranged in advance; times and fares depend on the service chosen
By sea

Boat from Bali and overland transfer

There are sea connections between Bali and Lombok, with arrival ports in the west and north of the island, such as Bangsal. Boat time is not travel time: from the port there is still a road journey to the south coast.

  • Port, operator and sea state determine the route and schedule
  • A useful option when combined with a stay in the Gili islands or the north
  • To reach the south directly, flying is the simplest way

Frequently asked

About the place.

Where exactly is Aregulin Estates?

In the surroundings of Are Guling bay, south coast of Lombok, village of Tumpak, Pujut district, Central Lombok. The map on this page shows the project point provided by the developer; the position of each plot is on the masterplan on the villas page.

Is Kuta Lombok the same as Kuta in Bali?

No. They are two different places on two different islands. Kuta Lombok is a coastal village in the south of Lombok, the area's hub for restaurants and social life, next to the Mandalika tourism area.

Which is the nearest airport?

Lombok International Airport (LOP), in Tanak Awu, Pujut district, near Praya, in the south of the island. From there the journey to Are Guling is by road, by taxi, hire car or ride-hailing app.

Can you get there from Bali by boat?

Yes, with sea connections landing in the west or north of Lombok, depending on the operator. From the port there is an overland transfer to the south coast, so the total time is longer than the boat crossing.

What does the map show?

The project point provided by the developer, in Are Guling bay, on Google Maps satellite imagery. It does not mark plot boundaries and does not replace the masterplan.
